I'm a passionate and highly experienced photographer and videographer, with over 25 years experience in those fields. For fifteen years I was a newspaper photojournalist, working for both regional and national publications (and for a while as a freelance photographer), covering literally thousands of assignments. I covered sports, news, features, fires, floods, fashion, Presidents, Popes, the down and out, the up and coming, still life, night life and home life.

I also spent ten years as a CD-ROM multi-media developer, where I would weave audio, video, animations, graphics and custom programming into engaging end-user experiences. My work can be found both on-line, and in museums and corporate training departments across the country. Working in this diverse, multi-media environment taught me how to use multiple tool sets to effectively draw the viewer into the media-rich experience. The ability of one person to do on the desktop what had previously required scores of dedicated professionals to accomplish, was the genesis of OellaWorks.

OellaWorks is the culmination of these experiences and abilities. My interest in using video and photography to tell stories stems from countless feature stories I've worked on where capturing the human condition and emotion of my subject matter told the real tale. What I found is that every person has a story to tell, one that should be preserved to share with family and friends and future generations. It could be a vacation experience, a wedding, a family reunion, your first marathon, a hobby, or personal history. YOUR story is important, and needs to be brought to life.

To do so, OellaWorks offers a unique experience as compared to many other photography and video production companies that take a more mass-produced approach to business. I'm proudly a one-man shop and want to stay that way, since I believe this serves you best. I'll be the one discussing your story with you, shooting your story, editing the material, and handing you the final product. You will always get a fully custom-made product with no templated work involved. I often take a "fly on the wall" approach to my shoots so that I can capture the emotion of the event without duly impacting it. I offer a natural storytelling ability, a personal demeanor that puts subjects at ease, and the ability to travel fast and light with a singular focus on getting the shot.

You may notice from my website that much of my work involves outdoor recreational and athletic events. Besides telling video stories, I'm also an accomplished distance runner, having completed over 100 races, including more than 40 trail ultramarathons (races longer than the standard 26.2-mile marathon in distance). My favorite races are those over mountainous terrain, with distances ranging from 50 and 100 miles in length. I'm most proud of my finish at the prestigious Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run, run over the course of one day through the Sierra Mountains of northern California.
